Terms of Service
Last updated: April 1, 2026
1. Service Description
nostr.blog provides NIP-05 identity verification services for the Nostr protocol. We assign human-readable addresses (e.g., you@nostr.blog) that map to your Nostr public key, allowing other users and clients to verify your identity.
2. Account and Key Management
Your Nostr keys are generated entirely within your web browser. We never receive, store, or have access to your private key (nsec). You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private key.
There is no password reset or account recovery. If you lose your private key, your account cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. We strongly recommend storing your key file in a secure location such as a password manager or encrypted storage.
3. NIP-05 Identity
Free NIP-05 addresses on nostr.blog and nostr.study are provided at no cost and may be subject to availability. We reserve the right to reclaim inactive usernames after 12 months of inactivity.
Premium domain addresses (nostr.design, nostr.expert, nostr.investments, nostr.spot) are available for an annual fee. Registration of a premium address grants you use of that NIP-05 identity for the paid period.
4. Payments
All payments are made via Bitcoin Lightning Network. Payments are final and non-refundable once confirmed on the network. Invoice expiration is set at 15 minutes from creation. Expired invoices must be regenerated.
5. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Register usernames that impersonate other individuals or organizations.
- Use the service for illegal activities or to facilitate fraud.
- Attempt to disrupt or overload our infrastructure.
- Register usernames containing offensive or harmful content.
6. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any NIP-05 identity that violates these terms, is used for impersonation, or is associated with illegal activity. We may also remove identities that are inactive for extended periods.
7. Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss of access to your Nostr account due to lost private keys, service interruptions, or any damages arising from the use of our service.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Significant changes will be communicated through the website.
9. Contact
For questions about these terms, please reach out via the Nostr protocol or through our GitHub repository.
